‘US pork is banned in China, Russia, and the EU.’

China owns the largest pork producer in the US, maybe the world; Smithfield Foods, and its subsidiaries, one of those being Nathan’s Famous hotdogs. They do import close to a $B a year from their own company.

Not mentioned is how much passes out through the kidneys, heads down to the creek and into our water source in the river. Any studies on these hormones in drinking water downstream of industrial farms? I bet you’d be hard pressed to find any. Just like female contraceptives entering our environment. Explains the accelerated hormonal changes in girls. We primarily drink reverse osmosis water. I recommend it to anyone concerned about your health. They sell neat, electric powered units on Amazon with easily replaced filters.

Help! Why have we so badly messed up our food system (globally). I only need 2 peanut butters, smooth and crunchy. I don't need chocolate, extra protein, peanut butter. This is an eye opener and mouth closer for me!

Last fall in Vienna, Austria,

we regularly purchased farmed Norwegian salmon from a leading supermarket. Is this the exception?

Yes, it could be an exception based on how the salmon was processed or labeled. Some countries that ban or restrict certain farmed fish may still allow imports if they meet stricter local standards or come from specific approved sources. Norway, in particular, has its own farming regulations, which might differ from the kinds of farmed salmon typically criticized in the U.S.

The key issue isn't all farmed salmon, but the widespread use of antibiotics, dyes, and contaminants like dioxins in lower-standard operations — especially in markets with looser oversight. So while Austria may allow certain farmed salmon, they likely have tighter safety controls in place compared to the U.S.
